Christian Develter was born in 1968 in Blankenberge, West Flanders , Belgium but resides and works in Asia since the nineties.

He gets inspiration for his paintings from impressions and experiences in both cultures he lived in and his quest to create beauty is a never ending evolving process.

Under the modish contemporary façade of Christian’s work lies a classical working approach, re-utilizing traditional painting traditional painting techniques used by the Flemish masters thereby continuing an ancient tradition but in new, daring and innovative ways.

Christian’s uniqueness lies in his radical choice of strong colors and his mixture of oils and acrylics , usually preferring to combine them with bold shapes. His works are deeply powerful and compelling in the way they capture light and space, translating his desire to create large paintings.

Christians’ studio Warp 54 is located in Bangkok on the shores of the Chao Phraya river behind the Portuguese mission in an old warehouse build by the Japanese in 1940ties .
